"Fighting back" has to acknowledge the economic power that has helped move those once fringe theories into the political mainstream, at least the right-wing/Republican mainstream. It dominates the mainstream, aka "corporate," media, and is so ubiquitous that it's virtually impossible to opt out of. (Unless we're willing to replace Substack and social media with paper samizdat passed hand to hand?) At least a third of the boxes on the shelves at my post office are from Amazon. This is a liberal town, and billionaire Bezos was among those willing to fund Trump's ballroom. Virtually everything one buys from Amazon can be had elsewhere, but it takes a little more work to find it. We need to consider what we're supporting with our $$$ as seriously as we consider what we're supporting with our votes because for sure we have more of them to invest.

Claire Berlinski's piece mostly focuses on Carlson and his possible motivations. A worthwhile read.
