Some quick thoughts from me on Trump’s continued attacks on Pope Leo

Vice President JD Vance has a new book coming out this year: a memoir about his conversion to Catholicism. To promote the book, he and his boss, Donald Trump, have decided to pick a fight with the Pope.

The beats of this one are both extremely online and extremely predictable. Vance threatening the Vatican, Trump piling on, Trump portraying himself as an AI-generated meme Jesus, Vance Pope-splaning theology to Pope Leo, Pete Hegseth mistaking Pulp Fiction quotes for scripture, and Pope Leo’s brother receiving at least one bomb threat that’s now under criminal investigation.
